Description
Close the Chattanooga and up on Lookout Mountain, this log-sided cottage, Chestnut Oak, is nestled in the wooded property, the Cottages in the Clouds. Chestnut Oak has three bedrooms, 2 full baths, a fully furnished kitchen in the great room and a large front porch with rockers and glider swing. The back porch has a gas grill. One of the bedrooms is downstairs and has a queen bed. The other two bedrooms are upstairs and both have king beds. There is a full bath on each floor and a washer and dryer on the first level. The great room has a 42' flat screen tv (Dish Network) and a dvd/blueray player. The kitchen has full size appliances and is fully furnished with dishes, glasses, pots and pans and the usual small appliances. All linens are furnished as well. Wifi is available on a shared network. The property has several other vacation rentals, Old Hickory, Maple, and Dogwood both 3 and 4 bedroom, a large open play area, a fire-pit and a gazebo with a picnic table and glider swing. There is also a small pond (although it may drop during dry conditions). It takes only 25 minutes to drive to downtown Chattanooga and about 12-15 minutes to Rock City. Ruby Falls, Point Park, and the Incline Railway are about 15-20 minutes away. The lovely Cloudland Canyon State Park is a 5 minute drive and the Lookout Mountain Flight Park hang glide jump-off ramp is 2 miles up the road. The Cottages in the Clouds property is on a main road on Lookout Mountain so your drive to the cottages is a very easy one (no bad roads). You can relax in the comfort of a lovely cottage, prepare meals and enjoy the privacy that a single family home will give you. Invite friends or family to join you to enjoy this lovely part of the Chattanooga, Tennessee area. Lovely cottage - Great vacation get-away!
Loved our stay at Chestnut Oak. Cottage was move-in ready upon our arrival. Spacious living quarters, kitchen with full-size appliances, including diswasher, full-size washer/dryer. Gas grill out back which was perfect for preparing our evening meals we had around the large dining table. Very clean and well kept. Great place for a vacation get-away - quiet and peaceful location. Easy to book reservation, easy cleanup & check out rules. Highly recommend.
Nice Cabins in quite setting
We enjoyed are stay at your lovely cabin in the clouds. The check in was very easy and the place was clean and ready for are nice vacation. Almost everything was there in the kitchen we need to cook with. We spent every afternoon on the porch just enjoying the area. Everything was well maintained even had a extra light bulb that we had to use on the front porch light. Don't have any yard lights to keep you awake at night. The first night we could not believe how dark it was out there. The beds were good but a little high off the floor for older people but the foot stool sure helped out.
Great weekend vacation house
We had 4 adults and 2 toddlers for a 2 night stay. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. Would rent it again.
Beautiful location, cozy and clean!
We really enjoyed staying at Chestnut Oak. The location is quiet and beautiful, just a perfect spot for a cabin. My kids liked the trail in the woods and building a fire. The adults absolutely loved the glider at the gazebo..so relaxing! The cabin was extremely clean, with lots of room. Loved having 2 full bathrooms and a big kitchen table that all 6 of us could sit together. We were well pleased with the cabin!
Peace and Quiet for a change
We found Cottages in the Clouds when we were looking for a place halfway between where the grandparents live (Alabama) and where we live (Virginia). This was almost the exact mid-point, so that was the initial plus. When we got to the cabin it was SO quiet it was actually possible to hear the leaves falling in the woods and the birds chirping in the trees. We had NO plans to do anything in the local area, just wanted to spend time together and relax. This was the PERFECT place for that. Most of the family enjoyed hiking around the property - mainly just walking down to the little pond and identifying critters, but also exploring in the woods behind the cottages. It was enough to wear out a 10yo and a 13yo and they actually stayed off electronics for a while! It was the perfect cottage for our group as the grandparents took the downstairs bedroom, the parents took one upstairs bedroom, the teenage boy opted to sleep on the couch, and the 10yo girl got to have a king-size bed all to herself! Very close to shopping for those items that get forgotten when packing, nice drive to Trenton, close to Chattanooga (though I wouldn't recommend driving down Ochs Highway as it is EXTREMELY steep with sheer drop offs....nerve-wracking to say the least, and the way that Google Map and Mapquest both gave us!). Just perfect for a long weekend to catch up and hang out.
Meeting in the middle
My son and his family drove from Indy to meet my husband and I at the Cottages in the Clouds and we could not have asked for a better location or accommodations. Everything was excellent from the webpage to the clean comfortable cabin. We loved the grounds, explored short trails, enjoyed the swing and front porch. Thank you for a wonderful long weekend, we will return.
Wonderful
Chestnut Oak cabin is in a beautiful wooded location, near attractions. It was comfortable, clean, well-equipped and attractive. Though we didn't use the pull-out couch, it would allow cabin to sleep eight. There are four or five other cabins on the property, which would make it a great property for a family reunion. The way the cabins are situated did not impinge on our privacy. We never even heard the people in the neighboring cabins.
Wonderful stay
We had a great time at the Cottages in the Clouds. The cottages were wonderful, as were the owners. We started off in Maple Cottage, but experienced a small problem with the fridge. The owners were quick to let us move into Oak Cottage. Both cottages look even better in person than in the pictures. The cottages were spotless, and the beds very comfortsble. Both had everything we needed. So much nicer than staying in a hotel. Hope to stay longer next time!
Completely Satisfied
We recently stayed a Old Hickory (one of 5 cottages on the property). Susie, the owner, was very quick and prompt with all of my questions and securing the reservation. The cabin was adorable, very clean and exactly as stated. Plenty of dishes, baking, cooking etc... The surrounding area was very clean, well maintained and beautiful. The property was not far from Ruby Falls and other attractions. The information they provide on places to eat and go was spot on! We fell in love with Mr. T's Pizza! She even let us check in early as we had been driving all day! Rate was very reasonable and we intend to return. This property would be excellent for a family reunion or get together having 5 cabins at one location. It was quiet and we loved it! My only tip is that if you have technology driven teenagers, like we did, it tends to slow the wifi way down when all of you are trying to use it! But hey you are on vacation, put the technology away! You will not be disappointed in this rental property!
Amazing
I stayed here for 3nights 4 days with my Family for my sons Birthday/Family Vacation and we all feel in love with our cottage. It was I indescribably amazing. Great owner great location to everything yet in its own lil piece of heaven on earth would stay there again in a heartbeat. Also greatly priced. You get so much more than what you pay for!!!!!
Comfortable and Charming Cottage on Lookout Mountain
The Chestnut Oak Cottage is one of a handful of cottages on the wooded grounds atop Lookout Mountain. We were pleased at its perfect location a couple minutes away from the Lookout Mountain Hang Gliding School. The rooms were beautiful, the beds comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and everything was clean and well maintained. I hope to bring my family back to Chesnut Oak or one of the other cottages on the grounds. The owner made all planning, communication and clearing out 100% hassle-free.
Old Hickory & Maple
Our group rented two cabins side by side. It was perfect and exactly what we needed. The place was clean and well kept. There is a middle grass area for a game of kick ball or just to throw a football. We look forward to booking with them in the future.
Pleasant stay
Cabin was clean and nice size for our family gathering there for four days.One bed and bath down with two bedrooms and one bath upstairs. The outside area was nice for corn hole and other family games. This cabin did have a large table that sat 8 which was better than the other cabin family rented. The one thing i would say it, the furniture could use some updating. The couch is pretty soft and you sink down quite a bit. Our cabin had a great front porch but very small back porch. while other are different. If you looking for a spot to host a family gathering, this is a nice option with cabins close together. the location is good as well.
Vacation
Excellent place to stay. Everything you needed was there. Comfortable beds. One suggestion if you are not use to driving in mountain area please drive the first time in day light.
