Fajardo is the hub of the majority of recreational boating in Puerto Rico and a popular launching port to Culebra, Vieques, and the American and British Virgin Islands. It is also the home to the largest Marina in the Caribbean, called Puerto del Rey. Off shore, near Fajardo, few islets can be found.
These are Icacos, Palominos, Palominito, and Diablo, among other uninhabited coral islands. Fajardo is popular among tourists, especially local tourists, because of its seafood, hotels, closeness to the small islands of Palomino, Icacos and Palominito, and the many daily trips that were are available to Vieques and Culebra, both by boat and by air.
Many landmarks a minutes away such as: Las Cabezas de San Juan Light House - One of the oldest lighthouses in Puerto Rico. Only one used for nautical reasons in the entire island; Bioluminescent Lagoon - One of the few Bio-Bays in the world. Puerto del Rey Marina - Biggest marina in the Caribbean; El Conquistador Resort & Casino.
Pena Mar Ocean Club is a privileged boutique condo development located on the east coast of Puerto Rico Virgin Islands on road 987 across from Villa Marina. A town of Fajardo is just 30 miles and 45 minute drive from the San Juan International Airport. This area is considered to be a largest port in Virgin Islands which sailors use as a jumping point to the rest of the Virgin Islands.
The apartment consists of 3 Bdrm, 2 bthrm which are fully furnished with updated, modern, quality furnishings, bed and bath linens, beach towels, soaps and kitchen utensils. Air Conditioners in all bedrooms. Living room - 55” Flat Screen TV connected to HD Cable box, Free WIFI, CD/DVD player. You can enjoy all the comforts of our home with leather couches, terrace furniture, King Size bed(Master) with TV/Cable, Queen size twin bed in 2nd bedroom and 1 bunk bed that can sleeps 4. The unit enjoys 1500 square feet of living space. Our unit is by far the nicest furnished unit in the development and can accommodate up to 8 people max.
Pena Mar Ocean Club is a fully secured community. The unit is located at the 4th floor which is perfect for tenants with handicap as the elevators and wide doors were made to accommodate the wheelchairs. 2 free parking spots for you and your guests. GE appliances. You will love the fridge with automatic ice maker and filtered , washer & dryer. The unit enjoys Granite counters, Bidet, Huge Balcony with Amazing Ocean View. Pena mar is the most desired location in Fajardo because of its boutique Resort Style design.
Pena Mar Ocean Club features its own emergency power generator and water cisterns which are useful in case of power/ water outage. We haven’t had a chance to experience a power or water outage because of this useful feature. Many other condo developments suffer water and power outage. The Condo development enjoys 3 Pools - One shaped like a boat, an Infinity Edge Pool with a Jacuzzi and one with a built in slide which the kids love. For those of you who like to exercise, a full gym and basketball courts, tennis court are available.
Come and see the hidden jewel of the Caribbean. We are located on the north east coast of Puerto Rico. We have the best of worlds, the El Yunque Rain Forest and the beautiful coastal beaches. Where else can you hop on a ferry to visit two small islands (Vieques & Culebra), go on a catamaran to snorkel, drift on a phosphorescence river, go to a casino, play golf in a challenging course, delight yourself with best local cuisine, minutes away from the unit.
Apartment is located 5 minutes drive from 7 Seas Beach, 20 minutes drive to El Yunque, the only tropical rain forest protected by the U.S. National Forest Service, 5 minutes to 'El Conquistador Hotel (Great Golf and restaurants). 15 minutes from Luquillo Beach. We are located across the street from Villa Marina, where a wide range of sailboat, catamaran charters, boat rentals are available to take you on daily trips to the cays for snorkeling. Puerto Del Ray marina (a largest marina in Virgin Islands) which is 15 minute drive from a condo offers additional day sails to neighboring island as well as Culebra. For a picture perfect beach a day trip to Culebra is a must. A ferry, which is 5 minute drive from a condo, will take you to Culebra (one hour and a half ferry trip) where cab drivers for a relatively small fee will take you to a one of the consistently top rated beach in the world called Flamenco beach. If you like camping, you can camp at the Flamenco beach camp site. For the best snorkeling on Culebra walk to the other side of the parking lot where cabs dropped you off, cross the fence and within 15 minute walk you will be at Carlos Rosario Beach. Beside world class snorkeling this beach will let you enjoy the best of what Culebra can offer in a private setting.
Don’t want to ride a ferry to Culebra, the Seven Seas beach is 5 minutes away by car. It's a lovely, small, crescent-shaped beach, with soft sand and almond and palm trees that provide some protection from the sun. The views are fantastic, just beautiful to look out at the water and see the lighthouse in the distance. Water is blue and beautiful. There is a coral reef some distance from the beach, making a natural wave break. If you want to park your car in the street right next to the Nature Preserve, walk toward the beach, turn right - you will see another half a mile of deserted part of the Seven Seas beach. Further you walk less people you will see. Once the weekday you will be the only couple on the beach. This is another reason why we like to stay away from Luquillo beach as there are always people around. If you like privacy you will like Seven Seas beach. After couple of hours on the beach few food kiosks down the road will provide much needed snack, cold beer or a chilled coconut will sure hit the spot. We enjoyed this local beach spot more then a dozen times and alway found that locals are extremely friendly and courteous.
Fajardo is well known for its excellent day sailing, snorkeling and diving. The day-sailing trips normally take you to one of the nearby cays for a day of snorkeling, sun bathing and feasting (food and drinks are included in a fair). For the divers, there is excellent clear water all around the cays, with plenty to explore. For a nocturnal trip in the Bio luminescent Lagoon is a must (make sure you go on a day with no moon). Of course, the seafood in this area is fresh and delicious. La Mina falls at El Yunque rainforest offers a romantic waterfall swimming after a hike in the most pristine rainforest anywhere in the Caribbean.
While visiting Puerto Rico you can visit: Cavernas De Camuy (Caves located at Camuy) as well as Arecibo Observatory where they filmed James Bond Golden Eye, Luquillo (a beach with many local food options right at the beach where we highly recommend La Parilla and Ceviche Hut as well as Fruitty World (a colorful smoothie stand) – smoothies will knock your socks off in terms of presentation and taste), Fajardo (day sailing to the cays of Icacos, Palominos and Palominitos).
If you are in the market for a vejigante mask at discount price a trip to Ponce is a must. All the papier-mâché vejigante masks you see at Old San Juan shops are made by local artisans at Ponce where you can grab one for half the price of what the retailers sell it for. While hunting for masks a newly renovated Museo de Arte de Ponce is a must see which features a largest Art museum in the Caribbean. Car rental is needed to help explore various areas of interest as well as shopping.

Great location and view
Very comfortable property in a great location for sailing, the beach and great food. The hosts were wonderful about answering questions and addressing our needs immediately. The view was wonderful from our balcony each morning as we sat and had coffee. Wifi was slow at times but that was our only negative. Would definitely stay there again.

Ideal location and plenty of room for teenagers
We had a great stay here in November 2018. The place was clean and had plenty of room for our three teenagers to spread out. We found the kitchen to be functional and prepared several meals here. The location was just a few blocks from the Villa Marina where we caught the catamaran to Icacios Island (and enjoyed piraguas at the small stand). It was another 10 minutes to drive over to the launch of the Bio Bay kayaks. The complex had pools which we used and facilities that we didn’t. The unit had nice bathrooms and a really good mattress in the master bedroom. The only complaint was a weaker WiFi signal. It worked well In the main room but not the bedrooms. We’d rent here again in a flash. Anton, Carmela and Anthony made the process easy.
