"Loon Cottage" is Awesome!!

The Loon Cottage is the perfect place to stay in Sebring, Florida. Clean and comfortable. The location is perfect, close to restaurants and beautiful lakes for fishing/boating. It's also close to Lake Placid, home of the "murals". If you haven't seen it, don't miss it. This house is on Lake Josephine, a 3 section lake that's full of bass and crappie. Pretty neighborhood with a boat ramp on a dead end street made for morning walks without the worry of traffic. Highlands Hammock State Park is close by and worth the visit. Just magnificent! Overall a great place to stay, we will return soon!

Peaceful,romantic getaway

My boyfriend and I had the most wonderful time at Loon Cottage. The house was clean, cosy and had all the amenities (and more)you would need to make you feel at home - pots/pans/toaster oven/coffee machine/juicer etc. The living area was comfy with a huge couch, reclining chairs and a large selection of movies to watch after enjoying the sunset from the dock outside. We spent almost every evening out there, watching the wildlife and enjoying the breeze off the lake. Neither of us are into fishing, but we met a couple of people who said the lake is 'the place to be' if you want a quiet, relaxing place to take a boat and catch some great fish. We took the kayaks out instead and it was just wonderful to float out at dusk, the water is so calm there and it was the perfect place for a first time kayaker! The house is in a great location if you want to get out and about. It was close to Hammock Park (about 6miles), which has beautiful trails and some awesome wildlife (we saw alligators, birds and an amazing yellow spider!), the town is a couple of minutes drive and there are plenty of restaurants (see the guidebook at Loon Cottage-most of them are listed, with menus) and shops if you prefer to cook in. We also went on an airboat ride, which was a real experience. The guide was great, so knowledgable, and we saw tons of alligators, turtles and birds. Go at dusk for a real treat, the swamp is supposedly at its most beautiful then! All in all I would highly recommend Loon Cottage. We had one of the best vacations ever there and left feeling peaceful and relaxed. The place even sparked the idea of us moving from Colorado to sunny Florida next year!

We keep returning to the million $ sunset view

We really enjoyed our stay at Loon Cottage it is so peaceful by the Lake and the cottage is clean and very tastfully furnished, It is very artisticly done. This was our third stay at the cottage and it is our only Sebring destination choice.

Magical

This was my second time coming back to Loon Cottage and I was so lucky that it was available, since the owner usually uses the cottage for own purposes. Now, as last time, I left feeling very recharged. Recharged from the time spent kayaking on the lake, reading my book in the hammock on the dock, or in the swinging couch in the screen room, and of course, from the cozy cottage itself, and from enjoying the lushly forest of bamboo and flowers around the cottage. You should really take advantage of the kayaks and the easy access to the water. You literally just slide yourself and the kayak right off the dock and into the water. The cottage is as last time I visited very clean and organized. Always fresh and clean sheets and towels. A big size refrigerator is always convenient. I also find myself getting enlightened and nostalgic in the book and video library. And not to forget the big, lounge couch. I will always come back to this sweet lil' pearl of serenity. Thank you very much.

Well kept, inviting Loon Cottage

My husband & I spent six weeks at the Loon Cottage on Lake Josephine, a small ride from Lake Placid, FL. The cottage was well kept, offering many books, music and movies to fill your time in central Florida. Our favorites were the wonderful screen house with glider and the long dock to watch the beautiful sunsets. The cottage was well stocked, clean and comfortable. Make sure you try fishing from the dock, eating at Cowpoke's Watering Hole and enjoying the murals in Lake Placid. Highlands Hammock State Park is a great place to follow the trails and look for wildlife. We would certainly recommend this lovely cottage to anyone looking for a restful, peaceful vacation.
