UNIT B2
If this is your first trip to Akumal, you are in store for a marvelous adventure. “Akumal” means “place of the turtles” in the Mayan language. In season, you can watch the turtles lay their eggs and then march to the sea. You will never forget the experience.
Our condominium is particularly lovely because we have very high ceilings and a large, open floor plan. The living and dining area adjoin, but do not seem like the same space. I have decorated with antiques and art from the region, so you will fell more at home than in some other rentals. We kept it to ourselves for ten years and only started renting in 2008.
We have two spacious bedrooms with king size beds. Both rooms are light and airy. The Master's bath in the room area, while the Guest Room's full bath is just outside the door.
Fabulous ruins, snorkeling, deep sea diving, turtle watching, shopping, relaxing and lots of fun await you here. I look forward to hearing from you. Call or email with any questions.
Akumal: We are only a ten minute walk from the 'center' of Akumal. There are two small grocery stores, an Internet room that is very reasonable, a few shops and a laundry. There are also three very good restaurants here in the center. You can access Akumal beach from here. It's only about one hundred yards from the center. The snorkeling off this beach is really good. Akumal is always casual.
Things to Do: Shopping is very good in Tulum, which is only 15 minutes south, and in Playa del Carmen which is only 22 minutes north. Sightseeing is endless. You can take day trips to Tulum or Coba, or you can stay overnight at Chitze Itza or Merida. We recommend them all. There is an endless list of possible activities for you to enjoy in and around Akumal and all through the Mayan Riviera. There are PGA golf courses and world class diving spots. The fresh water cenotes are just beautiful and very refreshing. I have snorkeled many with our children. I prefer to have a guide direct us when we go the cenotes.
My Favorite Thing to Do: I love to walk the beach from in front of our apartment and then to the right. It is not completely sandy. It is covered with thousands of pieces of washed-up coral and small shells. I collect the most striking pieces of coral that I find. I have so many now, I can be very choosy. I will sit for hours there and just commune with the sea and nature. I am usually totally alone and for me, there is no other place where I feel so at one with the world.
DIRECTIONS
Enter Akumal Beach. Drive through the arch and veer left. Continue through the security gate. In about 100 yards, you will com to Mi Casa Del Mar on your right. Drive under the porte-cocere to the steps. A gentleman should come to help with your bags. If not immediately, just ring the bell or buzzer to call him. A gratuity would be appreciated.

Lucky find!
Well, I certainly felt like I hit the jackpot finding this place. Walking up the stairs and into the open main lobby, our first glimpse of the lovely little infinity pool overlooking the sea with its many shades of blue, took our breath away. Stunning. We were warm greeted by Luis, who took us up to our condo and helped with our bags. He remained a big help throughout our 2 week stay, particularly in arranging rental bikes for us. The condo itself was spacious and yet felt very comfortable and homey. The kitchen was well-equipped, which we greatly appreciated. The living areas are not air conditioned, but because of the beautiful sea breezes, the high ceilingand the ceiling fans, this was not a problem for us. The bedrooms are air conditioned and were very comfortable for sleeping. The beds were very firm on concrete bases, which is fairly typical for this area, and our bed was perfect for me. The bathrooms were charming, and our housekeeper, Graciella, kept them very clean and all our paper products well stocked. She was an absolute gem and a hard worker, whose efforts we greatly appciated. We had a problem with the air conditioner in the second bedroom one night, but it was repaired the next day. Everything was in good working order. Having the large balcony outside our condo was a real bonus, and we spent every evening outside enjoying the breeze and the sound of the waves. The pool was kept very clean, and there were few people using it, so we really had a chance to relax and enjoy ourselves. We met a few people who owned their units, and enjoyed talking with them. We told them how fortunate they are to have this piece of paradise! We hope to return to Akuma within the next year, and will hopefully be lucky enough to make this our home base when we do.

Stunningly Beautiful Place!
We just loved our stay at Mi Casa Del Mar in Akumal, Mexico! We stayed in unit 2B. The condo was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was very clean and spacious. The balcony was fabulous giving us a peaceful place to sit and stare at the ocean waves. We also loved the balcony for private sunbathing and eating lunch. The view of the pool and the ocean was just unforgettable! The pool was so cool! The people there were so sweet! Everyone we met seemed to really care about us and our vacation. It was so safe for us girls to walk around, even at night! There are cameras everywhere and hired security guards on every property. We highly recommend Mi Casa Del Mar and Akumal. It isn't a party town, it is a place to either bring your family or loved one and chill out, spend some quality time with each other and enjoy nature. We will come back again next year!

Excellent location, very quiet area...
Flat is super... large balcony, large dining and lounge area. Bedrooms good size. All rooms have fans which we preferred. Bedrooms with A/C. Views are fantastic, from flat, balcony and infinity pool. Plenty of sunbeds. Free parking space available. The owner is very accommodating and responsive. Any issues raised were resolved almost instantly by her local staff who are also very attentive. Area is secured. We loved it and have stayed there twice.
