Renovations Postponed Pending Condo Sale

After reading prior reviews we arrived with fairly low expectations. Initially we were pleased to see that the walls had been painted despite recent complaints about dirty walls. However, the tiny kitchen is indeed a mess with a broken sink, a ripped counter top and an ancient electric two-burner stove top unit that no longer has markings to indicate the heat levels and takes a long time to heat up. The kitchen utensils, etc. are the mixed variety commonly seen at yard sales. As others have mentioned the owner has decided to neglect needed renovations pending an effort to sell the condo. Half of our first day was spent working with the resort staff to get things fixed. The A/C unit in the dining/living-room area did not work, the ceiling fan was extremely noisy, the telephones didn’t work, and the shower in the bathroom near the entrance leaks into the dining-room. Here I have to give credit to the resort staff for making an effort to fix what they considered to be their responsibility. On the positive side, this condo unit is located only a short walk to the swimming pool, resort office and parking lot. The bedroom and its balcony have a lovely view of the gardens with the ocean in the distance. The large adjoining bath features a double sink and an excellent shower. The fact that the glass shower door does not close fully was only a minor inconvenience. While it is advertised as sleeping four, we recommend against putting your guests through the torture our guests suffered on the rock-hard rubber cushions provided on the sofa-beds in the living-room. If you decide to rent a condo at the Camino Real we highly recommend paying extra for “full hotel services.” Having daily maid services, along with all necessary linens, towels and toilet articles provided by the resort, is worth every penny. We found the resort staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. That said the Camino Real Zaashila has only a tiny reception area instead of the huge spectacular lobby usually offered by top class resorts. Also, as mentioned by others, the beachfront is generally only for sunning due to generally rough surf and the pool, while very large, is fairly shallow. With car or taxi there are numerous other swimming options in the area.

Incredible view, hospitable resort, best place ever!

With that said the condo is very outdated and in muc need of repair, however, it is for sale and thus it is understandable not putting any more money into it. It would be an inexpensive and small investive to at least purchase a memory foam mattress toper for the bed. Really, that is my only complaint, other than that the condo is very clean, you have evrything you need. And yes do a check of all the items all ready there and make your shopping list before going to the super chedraui (local Wal-Mart type store) they have everything. We bough our liquor and staple foods there. We also brought our own shampoo so we didn't pay for the shampoo and soap replacements, the only thing we paid for and made clear to reception was, cleaning and fresh linens, make sure you make that clear. It is a different price for shampoo and soap. They do clean everyday and replace thr linens, so if you're morw on the conservationist side make sure you let them know your wishes. The resort is so incredibly amazing they will literally get you anything you need. My husband got sick and they phoned the pharmacy and had them send over Imodium and electrolis (local Pedialyte). A taxi can also be called for you and generally run abput 55 pesos to the center or 43 back. At the beach the palapas are readily available you don't have to wake up super early to reserve or fight over one. The servers will bring you lunch all the way to your palapas, you literally only have to get up for restroom breaks. Do mind the daily flag announcements for the conditions of the beach. This particual beach is very well known for it's strong undercurrents, with that said don't look outiside for a determination if you will visit other bays or not. We found others bays to be incredibly calmer. We did some deep sea fishing with a local, a waterfall tour and couldn't do more because of my hubbys conditions. Do not wear sunscreen to the waterfalls or even if you try out snorkelling, you will kill the wild life and pollute the water.

loved the place and the condo peaceful
