Description

Come enjoy our glorious single-floor, two bedroom, immaculately landscaped, beautifully maintained and fully furnished Adirondack home that is both secluded and in the High Peaks area -- approximately 2 miles above the town of Keene. "Heaven Too" is perfect both for all seasons and includes two fireplaces, a large and open living room, a modern kitchen and wrap around decks from which to see one of the most beautiful views in the area. Located in the small, but amenities-rich town of Keene and a short drive to Keene Valley, you can access both the necessary creature comforts and the idyllic seclusion of a house in the woods.

Only 15 miles from Lake Placid (Olympic attractions) and 20-25 miles from Lake Champlain (with 20-minute ferry between Essex, NY and Charlotte, VT ). Breathtaking, lofty panoramic view of the Great Range and more, including Mt. Marcy (many say the best such view in the Adirondacks). During May-October, one may enjoy the scenery and the sounds of wildlife, hike many nearby and High Peaks trails, rock climb, fish and swim in the Ausable River, canoe and kayak in nearby ponds, lakes and streams, play golf or tennis . . . even checkers! Leaf-peeping usually best from late-September to mid-October. Ideal for novelists, poets, scholars . . . or just plain old (and young) nature lovers.

There are wrap around decks. House sleeps 5 max. There is one large main bedroom (double bed), one large study with a twin bed and fireplace and mountain views, one smaller bedroom with a twin bed and a very comfortable air mattress that can be used in any of the rooms.

There is a fully equipped, modern kitchen, two full bathrooms (one with a tub/shower and one with a shower), laundry facilities, two large stone fireplaces and mountain views from nearly every room.

Also available: Internet access (via free Wi-Fi high speed DSL fiberoptic), Cable TV, and stereo system. Additionally, parking (in lower "Stonehedge" area only). Fully winterized.

Heavily wooded property, hence little space for major organized sports. For these and most other serious outdoor activities--boating, fishing, golfing, hiking, hunting (no guns allowed), rock-climbing, swimming, tennis, etc.--we go mostly off property in and around the valley, the Ausable River (fantastic swimming holes!), and nearby mountains and lakes.

Available from August 14 through July 1st of the following year.

Easy access: 2-2.5 hours drive from Albany (NY), Burlington (VT), and Montreal airports.

Beautiful Home, Stun

We (a retired couple who like to hike) stayed at this beautiful home during the summer and then returned for a fall getaway, and the experience was wonderful both times! The property is secure and private, yet close to main roads and the charming village of Keene. The house is well-situated to maximize the stunning views of the high peaks. The interior is artfully decorated and well-appointed, allowing us to enjoy cooking some meals “at home” and spend cozy autumn evenings enjoying a drink by the fire. On both visits, another couple joined us for a few nights, so having two separate sleeping areas, each with its own full bath, worked very well. The local contact person, who is available should you have a question or need anythjng, was immediately responsive and very helpful when we did have a question.

Refreshing

This was the third time my husband and I stayed in this home ... at least it feels like home to us. We have found that this particular place is perfectly situated and equipped for an unplugged week in the mountains ... as close to hiking as shopping, yet so very private and tucked away. There is wifi, of course, but we have found making nice meals from local organic produce and products in the well-equipped kitchen, and sitting on the deck taking in the glorious view of the mountains by day and the stars at night, or reading by the fireplace in the cozy living room to be the much more appealing way to enjoy this place. If anything has been needed in the way of support, the response from the local contact person has always been immediate and effective.
