Description
Charming, quaint historic house in central Rye with large sunny garden, with garden furniture and hammock. Ideal for large families, two families, or groups of friends. Available for whole weeks in summer, and for weekends from autumn-spring.
NB check-in/checkout times listed are for Saturday same day changeover - If you are renting just for the weekend then the check-in / check out time will normally be much more relaxed - ask me for details
The space
This is our second home, and you'll have the house to yourselves.
Ground floor : Sitting Room and Kitchen
1st Floor : Sitting Room, Bathroom, Bedroom 3 Bedroom 4
2nd Floor: Bedroom 1, Bedroom 2, Bathroom
Cellar: Utility Room (Washing Machine, Dryers, Extra Fridge)
Garden - Large Garden
Annex - for large groups, additional annex with double bed, bathroom.
Guest access
The house is all yours, and you will be able to let yourself in when you arrive.
Other things to note
We are in the centre of historic Rye, with all its shops, pubs, restaurants and sights. We don't have our own parking - there is space to load unload, and some 2-hour slots on the street, but the station car park is only 2 minutes walk and costs £13 for a week.
The house is very old and is full of historic features - grand fireplaces, a cubby hole in the panelling, timber from a Spanish shipwreck, but it's also well equipped and comfortable.
Being an old house the stairs are a little steep so if you have mobility problems give me a call, and probably rule out reaching the top floor )

We had an amazing stay.
We had an amazing stay. The property is in such a great location for exploring Rye. It is even better than the photos, such amazing character, and very quirky. The kids loved doing the quiz. It was really great to have the 2nd living room so the kids could watch films, and the adults could socialise in the main living area. Steve was very helpful and provided lots of useful information about the local area. We'd love to go back in the summer to make the most of the lovely garden!

The Old Surgery is the perfect rental if you want a few days of soaking up the history and quaintness of Rye.
The Old Surgery is the perfect rental if you want a few days of soaking up the history and quaintness of Rye. So many of the features from the 16th century are still visible - inglenooks, beams, stairs (watch out, they're a bit way-hay) and doors. The beds are comfy as are the sofas around the wood burner in the front room and the kitchen's well equipped. The garden looked lovely too, although we didn't use it as the weather was quite wet when we were there. Its high street location is brilliant, and it's only a short walk from the station carpark where you can leave your car cheaply.

We stayed at The Surgery for our friends 40th as a group of 7 women. We had the most amazing time in this beautiful home. Everything was right on our doorstep and we spent a lot of time chilling in front of the fire as we had the perfect winter weather. Steve was the perfect host and we would not hesitate to book again. You won’t regret booking here!
