The market town of Biggar, 3 miles, has a good variety of pubs, restaurants and small specialist food shops, and has a surprising number of events and festivals throughout the year, including the traditional Hogmanay bonfire in the middle of the town. Visit Peebles for good shops and restaurants, Traquair House and Kailzie Gardens. The property is around an hour’s drive from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, or by train from Carstairs, 12 miles. Hill walking, cycling, fishing and golf all nearby. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
