Description

Entering the house you walk into a sun porch with exposed stone walls which has lovely views over the garden, surrounding hills and estuary. The comfortable seating allows you to make the most of this room. Walk through into the open plan ground floor; to the right is the kitchen, dining and additional sitting area which has exposed beams, wood burning stove and Belfast sink finished with local Caithness flag stone. To the left is the lounge with comfortable seating, open fire, small library and television and DVD player.
The house has oil central heating. The stairs lead up from the lounge to the first floor, here the landing area contains a small DVD library and linen storage area, linen is included with this property. The bathroom contains a bath with independent shower above it. There is one spacious double bedroom and a further double bedroom with additional single bed.
Walk out the door and on to the beach - heaven for you and your dog, then come home to relax in the sun lounge. However it's also an ideal location for hill walkers, those with an interest in archaeology and or geology. The local museum provides a comprehensive insight into the past of the Highlands and archaeological finds in the area. Bettyhill has one shop and Post Office, a hotel, an Inn, and a cafe and a swimming pool. Locally sourced produce and sea food can be purchased and is also served in the local Hotels, which are dotted across the area.

Really enjoyed our stay, cottage was lovely and clean and very welcoming

John Navers Cottage is a hidden gem

We loved this traditional cottage with mixes of old and new, it made it so homely. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need should you choose to cook. There is also a well stocked larder cupboard which was a pleasant surprise, just incase you’ve forgotten something. An air fryer which was a bonus. The location is just amazing, a 5 min walk from the cottage and you’re on the beach where you can walk for miles and hardly meet a soul! Fishing on the river Naver right on your doorstep too. We loved watching the lambs and horses from the sun room. Also had our daily visits from the peacock and pea hens along with their babies. And that’s all before you even begin to venture out to explore across the coastline. Absolutely stunning scenery. Highly recommend John Navers cottage for a comfortable stay and it’s in a central location for exploring further afield. Alix is an excellent host.

Marvelous stay!

John Naver’s cottage was absolutely marvelous! The location was beautiful, and the house was fabulous! Comfortable furniture, a beautiful kitchen, and a sun room that was perfect for tea in the morning, or a dram in the evening. Alix was an incredible host. Not only did she make us feel so very welcome, but when we had a bit of car trouble, she even found someone willing to help us out. We can not recommend this property highly enough!

Great North Highlands base

Very nice modified Crofter's cottage, perfectly located for exploring east and west along the North coast. Don't let the lure of Durness or John O'Groats make you overlook the local rivers and beaches right on your doorstep though. I could have happily stayed for another week exploring.

Fantastic break

The cottage was very welcoming and cozy and location good just a short walk from cottage to beach was so relaxing enjoyed every minute and will definitely be back 5 star loved it
