There are a number of walks from the door down to the local beach, ideal for guests who want to truly experience this rugged and spectacular coastline.
The nearby town of Thurso offers an abundance of shops, restaurants and boat trips to explore the surrounding waters. The Cottage is situated on the renowned North Coast 500 route, arguably one of the most scenic road trips, encompassing wild countryside, spectacular coastlines, numerous villages, small towns and historic places of interest along the way. There is an abundance of things to see nearby, including ancient castles, archaeological sites and places of interest all within a short drive.
For wildlife enthusiasts there are puffins, cormorants, seals, dolphins, whales, deer and pine marten all seen in the region. There are good facilities in the small village of Bettyhill, including two shops (one of which includes a post office), café, restaurant and even a swimming pool. Golf, fishing, kayaking, sailing, cycling, horse riding and hill-walking are all local pursuits. Beach ½ mile. Shops, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
