Description

This sustainably crafted tiny house, adorned with beautiful hand-made woodworks and a unique wood-fired roll-top bath to soak and enjoy the stars in, is the perfect place to rest your head during your highland adventures.

The tiny house can sleep up to four guests. Two guests on a king-size loft bed and two on a hand-made pull-out double bed. The tiny house boasts a kitchen equipped with everything you need, including a sage coffee machine; a lounge with a unique hand-crafted dining area; and a bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower. In addition to your own private wood-fired roll top bath, there is a hot tub for you to get the full relaxation experience in! The hot tub is shared with our other guests at the steading, but we have created a schedule for you to book a private slot during your stay and it is situated out of sight from the cabin to keep your privacy. The cabin encompasses comfort, functionality and luxury in a magnificent compact and sustainable design.

In the mornings, wake up to spectacular views and try your hand at brewing a professional coffee. In the afternoon, sit outside on the lovely raised deck and enjoy a glass of wine or a wee dram while overlooking the beautiful organic vegetable garden. Then to add a bit of luxury to your holiday, sit back and relax in the vintage wood-fired roll-top bath or the hot tub. The perfect way to end a day exploring the local area!

The tiny house is located on a small steading nestled in the heart of the Cairngorms, on the edge of beautiful Ballater. As you enter you will see an old stone building and a newly landscaped wildflower garden. It has been planted with native wildflowers and will provide a habitat for local wildlife.

At the steading, we are trying to build unique, low-impact sustainable holiday accommodations, with high-quality design and materials for our guests. The tiny house is newly built and 100% finished. However, you may notice other projects on the property which are not completed to the same level as the tiny house, though, this should not impact or disturb you during your stay, whatsoever.

The tiny house is perfectly situated to access all that the Cairngorms and Royal Deeside have to offer. Walking trails, hiking, golf, mountain biking, skiing and other outdoor activities are all on your doorstep.

The accommodation is located a mile and a half to Ballater. You can either drive or walk along the much loved 7 bridges walk to get to the village. Here you can find a selection of café’s, restaurants and pubs, or possibly a bit of local independent shopping. If you want to visit the Queen, Balmoral Estates is a stone’s throw away. Balmoral and Royal Lochnagar Whiskey distillery are only 6 miles away. Also close by is the Historic Town of Braemar.

If there is anything you should need during your stay we are only a message or phone call away.

Public Transportation was easy with a little planning

We stayed for 6 days in July 2023 in one of the tiny homes. Loved it, loved the location, the nature, and the ethos of what they're doing. FYI: We did it all on public transportation, (without renting a car) and for those considering, this is what it was like: The four of us took a train to Aberdeen, and then took the 201 bus (same station as the train station) from Aberdeen right to the driveway of the rental. We bought a few groceries at the Aberdeen train station to get us over for a day. We were travelling with backpacks, and the 1.5 - 2 mile walk into Ballater to get groceries in the backpack was easy, beautiful, and a pleasant activity for me. However, I could have used the 201 bus (bus drivers are happy to let you off and pick you up even if it's not specifically a bus stop), just get the location (description) from the host. I wanted to post this because travelling with public transport is fun, economical, and a great way to experience a place. Also eco friendly. Highlights: rented bikes in Ballater (25 pounds/day), LOVED swimming in the river Dee just 2 minutes from the cabin, picking raspberries, visiting Knock Castle, enjoying Cask Beer at the local tavern, and chatting with the hosts: friendly and helpful. Keira was super attentive and helpful as well. Jamie, Jessica, Pearl and Josephine (14, 16 years old)

Fab weekend

My partner and I had a lovely weekend away in the tiny house with our dog. The house was stunning and the area was beautiful.

5 star stay

Amazing stay. 5 stars for location, amenities and communication. Highly recommend will definitely be back

Great little house

We had a lovely stay here, everything was perfect!

Cosy cabin

Beautiful little cabin, everything you need for a few days, so cosy and cute and lovely views! Super comfortable bed. Karl was really thoughtful coming to check in on us several times as it was below freezing for a lot of our trip we had a problem with iced up keysafe and water pipes. These were understandable due to the temperatures but still sorted out these issues super quickly and came to check we were okay. Would definitely recommend and would return. Thanks to Karl Keira and Bess for a lovely stay!
