First opened in 1938, a time when automobile vacations were still new, exciting and just a little bit dangerous. Weary city dwellers could escape hot urban summers and call a little piece of the country the Oldest Summer Resort in America. Couples and families played horseshoes and tossed balls under tall trees, enjoyed lake pleasures, entertainments and shopping in the village, and returned to their cottages for socializing and well-earned sleep at night. Since buying the property in 2008, we have worked hard to retain each cabin’s nostalgic ambiance while ensuring your comfort. Cottages are freshly decorated, and electricity, plumbing, and all systems have been updated while preserving period character.

Convenient, Activities, Caring Staff, Clean

I would recommend this to families and groups of friends. They have a great variety of opportunities for all the different interests in our group just a few minutes walk away. I loved not having to get back in the car to get to restaurants, pubs, shops, etc. Very clean and a very kind staff...

ALL THE COMFORTS OF HOME

We recently stayed in Cottage 8/9 for a full week. The beds were super comfortable; the cottage was spacious and clean. Everything was in perfect working order...including the air conditioner, which we used constantly for most of the week to combat the 90 degree humid weather! The cabin came equipped with toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, bath soap and shampoo, kleenex AND coffee, olive oil, salt, pepper, sugar AND a fully equipped kitchen with a pitcher, mixing bowls, wine glasses, tons of pots/pans/utensils/knives. It really was like being at home!! Also, Dave and Jodi were so helpful and friendly and welcoming. Jodi told us about all kinds of things to do in the area with great directions of how to get there. We will definitely be repeat visitors!

Perfect place for our family weekend.

Very quaint cottage in a great location. We could walk everywhere and enjoyed the peaceful setting.
