The Legend of Casa Lumenez:
In 1502 Christopher Columbus made the first European landfall along a new stretch of the Central American shoreline. The area's lushness and apparent wealth earned it to be named Costa Rica which means rich coast.
Following three hundred years of Spanish rule Costa Rica along with other Central American provinces declared its independence in 1821. By then most of the original cultures had vanished and their historic vestiges were overtaken by the country's dense and rampant vegetation.
Rare excavations near the exceptional site of Casa Lumenez have yielded relics of pre-Columbian inhabitants. According to legend, the property's amazing setting may have been a ceremonial site for ancient indigenous cultures.
During the last century the property fell into neglect and was quasi abandoned. A few years ago the property was fully rehabilitated and its crumbling buildings were renovated and expanded.
Today's Casa Lumenez combines the elegance of historic colonial style with modern architectural flair and Eco-minded features. Every aspect of the property is intended to enhance guests' enjoyment of the property's amazing setting while remaining true to the Casa Lumenez legend.
Amazing Property and Charming Town
The drive from the Liberia airport did not take long. The moment we arrived at Casa Lumenez we had one thought: this property is magnificent! The ocean views are spectacular, the large pool and terraces are great, the gardens are beautiful, the rooms are spacious, clean and tastefully furnished. This was a great place to embrace nature, relax, swim, read, and enjoy the many nearby activities. The town of Samara is charming, the people are friendly, and there are many fine small restaurants, fruit vendors and stores. The advance assistance during reservations and in the weeks before arrival was very helpful. The property's staff was very courteous and helped make our stay more enjoyable.

Beautiful home with all the amenities
This was our second stay at this beautiful home in Samara. The owners provided us with information on the home and shops/services in town. We had a wonderful time with our family 2. Plunging into the huge, sparkling pool was refreshing after a day at the beach or ziplining through the rainforest. We prepared most meals in the house kitchen, but it should be noted that there is no oven. We did grill some delicious fish we caught on the outdoor propane grill. The property was kept clean daily. We felt very secure within the gated property. On a side note, the property views provided a wonderful backdrop for photos of our son proposing to his girlfriend!! It was an awesome trip!

Beautiful slice of paradise in Samara
We thoroughly loved our stay at this property. Maria provided wonderful advice to ensure we had a fabulous stay. Johnny was waiting for us at the house as planned and did a very thorough job of showing us around the property. He was also there each morning to clean the pool and patio area. We are so thankful we reached out to Roberto (per Maria’s advice) to cook us a fabulous Italian influenced seafood meal. It was absolutely divine and wowed all of us! We would definitely love to stay at this place again the next time we’re in Samara!
