Description

The Beach House is a newly built wooden cottage nestled within the palms of a large serene corner lot on the beautiful Forgotten Coast. Gorgeous Gulf of Mexico beach views and easy beach access are a dream come true. This coastal area is pet friendly and offers many enjoyable possibilities including peaceful strolls on the quiet white sandy beaches, swimming, sun bathing, picnicking, bird watching, boating, canoeing, kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, crabbing, scalloping and surfing. Bikes, golf carts, canoes, kayaks and horseback rides can be rented at nearby establishments if you are interested.

Breathtaking sunrises and sunsets are seen from most every room in the house and always from all four porches. Bottlenosed dolphins, bald eagles and ospreys are common sites here. Loggerhead sea turtles make their nests on our beaches from May through October. The lot across the street from the Beach House is a State Preserve where eagles are viewed almost daily.

The Beach House is a custom built two-story home with two bedrooms, two full baths, a large kitchen and family room, and a private breakfast room with spectacular views to enjoy your morning coffee. The house sleeps eight, with a queen size bed in each bedroom, a comfortable queen size futon, and a pull out queen size sofa bed in the living room. There are porches on both the front and back of the home. The back porch is screened and there are small open deck porches off of each bedroom which are excellent for greeting the morning sun, sun bathing, or watching the stars at night.

The Beach House contains a fully equipped kitchen, a utility room with washer and dryer, two big screen TVs with Dish network and movie channel, and a private breakfast room and family room with excellent beach views. The house has central heating and air conditioning and ceiling fans are installed in most rooms. Complementary wi-fi is available as well as a telephone for local calls. The large yard includes an outdoor grill and a cement breezeway under the house complete with chairs, wooden porch swing, and wooden picnic table for entertaining and enjoying the outdoors.

This coastal area offers one of the last beautiful private and peaceful beaches in Florida, where you can collect a variety of sea shells, appreciate wildlife, and enjoy the peace and beauty of The Uncommon Florida.

Indian Pass Raw Bar a unique eating establishment less than a mile down the road where you can enjoy delicious Apalachicola Bay and Indian Lagoon oysters as well as shrimp, crab and other local seafood. The Raw Bar often has live outdoor entertainment and dancing on weekend nights. You will love their laid back style.

Nine miles to the west is the city of Port St. Joe where you can enjoy fine dining, great shopping, dancing and other entertainment. St. Joseph Peninsula State Park located on Cape San Blas is known worldwide for its beautiful beaches and you can rent canoes and kayaks or launch your own boat into the pristine waters of St. Joe Bay. Another interesting and educational place to visit is the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve which is located approximately 30 miles to the east. The nature center at the Reserve offers educational exhibits and aquaria featuring local fish, turtles and other wildlife.

If you enjoy shopping in small eclectic shops, you will want to visit the historic town of Apalachicola to the east and enjoy some delicious fresh local seafood while you're there.

If you're looking for a perfect and simple place to relax and enjoy the wonders of Florida's Forgotten Coast, the Beach House is the place!

Great vacation

My family loved this very cool beach house. Everything was clean and as described. There were plenty of chairs and floats for the beach. It had stormed quite a bit before we arrived, so the water was a bit murky and full of sediment. We didn't care. We still thought it was beautiful. Curt met us when we arrived. He was extremely helpful and nice. We loved how quiet and away from everything this place is. It is a very natural and rustic area. If you like a true get - away where you can unplug from everything, this place is excellent. We will be back.

The Beach house

Awesome place to stay. Best vacation we have had in a long time.

Amazing Beach location

Most relaxing beach vacation we have ever had!! The beach was basically our own private beach. The house is perfect and has everything you need, including beach chairs and laundry facilities.

Perfect!!

Our 2nd year at this home. We love the cottage feel with excellent view. Well stocked with all you need except the groceries!! Easy walk to beach...almost like a private island! If you are looking for water parks, mini-golf, and high rise condos, this is not for you. Tranquility and perfect for reconnecting with family

Post Graduation Get Away

A great place to take your Wife(new college graduate), In-laws, and Doggies on a little vacation. Location is very dog friendly and just a short walk from the beach. This house has everything you will need to really enjoy your time away from it all. I would highly recommend, especially for Dog lovers.

Wonderful spot

House was really nice, great tranquil spot by the ocean. The walk to the beach was easy. We took the little path through the grassy/wooded area, and also walked just to the left of house directly in front of us, towards the beach, guy staying there didn't seem to mind. Could not find a way to turn on the lights underneath the house. I could see that it needed an extension cord, but there was none to be found. We bought a cheap one while we were out, and it did the trick. Sorry, we didn't leave it for the next people! The grill/grills worked, though they are in need of some TLC. They are rusting pretty bad, hince the little metal thing to put on top of the grates. Just need to be recoated, but we made it work, and it cooked some good food! Other than those things, perfect house. Port St. Joe seemed to be back on it's feet pretty good. Ate at some good places. The beach is nice and quiet. Let the dogs run around a play in the water for hours. Thanks for a great house!

Great house and views

The beach house was fantastic. Just like the other reviews said, basic but had what you needed. The tall ceilings were gorgeous, as well as all of the wood. Really had a cabin vibe. My family of 4 plus a dog had plenty of space, the kitchen had everything we needed, as well as all of the linens and towels we needed. The beds were firm but comfortable for me, both a queen size mattress. Every room had a ceiling fan, the a/c works really well, almost too well. There were plenty of beach chairs and an umbrella (but we didn't use it). My favorite part was the front porch, enjoying the breeze and staring at the beach. The actual beach was hit and miss for us. The first day when we took our dog with us we were all attacked by stable flies. That was beyond horrible, drawing blood from our legs. I think it was the combination of the time of year, the winds, and having our dog with us. After getting the appropriate repellant from the local trading post the next days on the beach were awesome (and we didn't take the dog with us down to the beach during the day anymore). My kids loved playing in the sand and water. My husband didn't like the water though for fishing. It was very brown and rough. I'm not sure if that's a usual condition or not. I loved the sunrise and sunset. I took the dog and walked up and down watching the beautiful colors. Lastly, make sure to wear shoes to the beach and bring needle nose pliers to remove the burrs from your shoes and clothes. Those burrs are so painful! And they get everywhere. Of note, the area is still recovering from the hurricane last year. Only one business we wanted to visit was closed (Indian pass raw bar) but we went to the other location in town. The area in general doesn't have a lot of touristy places but that's one reason we liked it. Overall recommend the house and the area.

Vacation 2019 @ The Beach House

We really enjoyed staying at the Beach House! We especially loved the rustic feel of the cabin-like home.

Fabulous Stay - Quiet, Simple, Lovely

We greatly enjoyed our couples' weekend getaway here. All the other reviews describe the walk to the beach and house well. What I wished we'd known: the two bedrooms upstairs share a single full bathroom. The second full bath is downstairs. We were expecting two master baths but the arrangement worked out. Owners: Curt is fantastic and quick to answer calls by phone. Don't hesitate to reach out early. Great stay!
