A week of pure relaxation

This house is simply beautiful! I stayed here for a week with friends from college and we had an amazing time using the little boats and hanging out on the dock. This home was cozy, clean , open, and very friendly. I would recommend this home to anyone, whether you have kids or want to go with friends. It's a perfect vacation spot!

The PERFECT mountain retreat

This property has everything you need for the perfect mountain getaway! From the privacy and seclusion, to the lake and wonderful house, Annette and John have thought of it all. We've stayed in places that did not even have salt and pepper, but here you literally need to bring nothing but clothes, food, drinks, fishing gear and bait. The house is fully stocked, the kitchen is better stocked than most homes people live in day-to-day. My wife baked a homemade apple pie while we were there and forgot her pie plate, no worries, Annette had one. This is just one example of this house having everything. The furnishings and decor are tastefully done and comfy. There is NO cell service, the WIFI works wonderfully and allowed me to sneak in a couple hours of work each morning so I didn't have to come back to a disaster at work. There is also a land line with long distance. The outdoor shower was a huge hit with me and our girls, it has hot water. We fished daily off the dock and caught numerous trout, pumkinseeds and bream. I smoked the trout on the grill and we made homemade smoked fish dip. Pick up some nightcrawlers from the BP down the road, fish off the bottom and you will catch fish. Speaking of down the road, this property is remote, it's meant to be that way, so if you are not wanting to be in nature, then you should look elsewhere. It's a 25 minute drive down the mountain to Franklin Rd (where the BP is located), Highlands is a stunningly beautiful 40 min drive and well worth it, especially the time of year we were there (beginning of Fall). We had perfect weather, highs 75, lows 50-55, the mornings are a beautiful misty foggy, which burns off to reveal the perfect view to enjoy morning coffee. We saw no snakes, but you are in the woods with the lake, so don't be surprised if you see them. Just stay on the trail/stepping stones and keep your eyes open, they don't want to see you anymore than you want to see them. We saw a hefty black bear on the dam/burm of the lake the last day we were there, he crawled up out of the creek and went into the woods opposite the cabin on the other side of the lake. No bother, he lives there, it's his woods. I can't say enough about this place. You will not find a better property at this price point. It's perfect for kids, both young and old, our girls (4 and 6) had such a great time at their "holiday house" making memories that will last a lifetime. We will absolutely return to this little piece of heaven.

Peaceful Retreat with Pleanty to do

My husband and our 3 children stayed with my Best Friend and her son at this property. It was very spacious, the interior decorating is stunning and at the same time very comfortable. This home was directly on a private lake where our children were able to go kayaking for the first time, (paddles and lifevests were provided), they played hide and seek, we had weeny roasts and smores, the kids went fishing. My husband even made 2 poles out of sticks! The kitchen was completely stocked with any dishes you could need including pots and pans. There were ample blankets throughout the house and lets not forget the outdoor Bed Swing. Wow! That was the most comfortable bed I've slept on, while hearing the waterfall in the distance I easily drifted off to sleep! The mountains were beautiful this time of year and we stumbled upon Franklin, NC Fall Festival the first day we were there. We drove 8hrs from Florida and it was worth every bit of it. Our children didn't even mind that they didn't have WIFI or internet (and we're talking kids that use it everyday). The owner was SO helpful and nice over the phone and helped us come up with things to do and see. Really great experience all around! I could go on and on! We'll be back!!!!

Just What the Doctor Ordered

Our group consisted of me, my sister and our 4 dogs. We wanted to "get away from it all" and have the ability to enjoy what we love most: Peace and Quiet. You can keep yourself occupied without ever leaving the property and still feel like you just relaxed the whole time. Miss Annette has done a lot to ensure you have everything you need and then some. If you need it and can't find it, you didn't look hard enough! Sitting on the porch makes it hard to believe you are still close to "town" and the drive turning either way from the driveway is awesome. The Bull Frog Serenade every night is unique and sometimes quite humorous! We recorded it several times so we could share the noise when we got home. The fishing was light on the catching part, but we still fished every day just so we could watch the trout swim by the worms and laugh (and we did catch 9 fish by accident!). We have stayed at several VRBO rentals and that is the first place we look when deciding on a trip. This one ranks in the top 3 and we would definitely stay here again.

Heaven on Earth

Our family stayed in this beautiful place for two weeks from June 4-18, 2016, and we loved every minute! We were completely "unplugged" by choice and particularly loved the peace and quiet and serenity of this cabin. Every morning I enjoyed getting up before anybody else to make the coffee and open the blinds and sit on the deck to enjoy watching the lake wake up. Every night we enjoyed the bullfrog symphony....little ones and granddaddy ones who croaked all night. The night I spent sleeping with one of our granddaughters on the swinging bed was wonderful....the sky was full of stars and the bullfrogs sang us to sleep. Our little dog loved running around and exploring. We saw a turtle lay her eggs on the dam and also saw a Great Blue Heron, many small birds, and a Bald Eagle! The view of the mountains is so beautiful and peaceful. Annette was always available if something came up and so easy to talk to. Her magical decorating touches are superb! The kitchen was so wonderfully equipped! I cannot say enough about our experiences in this magical and special place. We plan to come back and experience the lake in the Fall and Spring. Two weeks in this place was such therapy for us and we shared many happy and memorable times with our family having delicious food and long talks and laughs. The outdoor shower is so wonderful that we plan on adding one to our own home! Thank you, Annette, for everything. Your home is truly Heaven on Earth!

Little slice of paradise……….

We stayed here June 18th through the 25th and loved every minute of it. The weather was perfect the entire time. The outside is so peaceful and the small town of Sylva is so quaint. One thing we really loved was being so secluded, in our little bubble, and still being able to go to the store without having to drive 30 minutes. It was the best of both worlds. One of the things I was curious about before arriving was the cabin layout so here is what we experienced. You walk in the front door into the kitchen/dining room (seating for 4) combo. In the kitchen you have everything you need. Off the kitchen/dining room is what we called the “yellow room” with two double beds and a TV with DVD only (no cable hooked up). Also to the right of the dining room is the entry to the living room. It is very comfortable with a flat screen TV above the fire place and T sectional couch (very comfy) and 3 lounge chairs. Plenty of seating. The TV has Direct TV The 2nd floor balcony off this room. It has two loungers, two rocking chairs, a dining set and two metal sliders with small tables all around to put drinks on or play games. Off the living room is the entrance to the other two bed rooms and the bathroom. Both of these rooms have queen beds and are very comfortable. The room off the left has a TV with a DVD player (no cable) as well. The bathroom is small but has everything you need and is very comfortable. Downstairs and outside is the entrance to the laundry area. The lower deck we only used once to play the hook game off it. While there a swarm of wasps decided to make a nest there on the bottom porch. Remember you are in their territory, not the other way around. We picked this place because it was in the middle of know where and right on top of nature, so bees are a part of nature and should be expected. Also off the area is the fire pit. While we said each night we were going to use it, we never did. Time just got away from us. We loved the pond, fishing swimming and our dog had a blast. Lastly, I can’t say enough about Annette. She was the best to work with and called a couple times to check on us. She is probably one of the most caring people I have ever worked with on a vacation. You can see all her personal touches in the home and tell she really cares. If you are looking for peace and quiet and your own little oasis this is the place to go. We can’t thank Annette and her family enough for such a perfect vacation!

Lakeside oasis

We brought our grandkids ranging in age from 9-18 to this magical oasis. They spent hours in the water playing with rope swing, swimming, fishing, paddle boating etc. We took Annette's suggestions and explored the nearby waterfalls (kids favorite was Bust you Butt falls). They slid down the waterfall and jumped off the cliff. This is a great place for families! The house is well equipped for cooking and plenty of space for those seeking solitude. I spent every morning on the deck with my coffee before the kids woke up just enjoying the cool air and great view. Loved this place!

Wonderful place to stay

We had such a wonderful stay at Lakeside Cove. I could have stayed for weeks. It was enchanting inside and out and anything you could possibly need was provided. It rained hard for half of our stay, but that didn't matter because with three covered outside areas, there was adequate space to enjoy being outside without getting wet. At the end of our trips, I'm always anxious to get home, but this time I really was sad to leave. Hope we can come back again.

Absolutely wonderful

We stayed here in July and it was perfect. It is a beautiful drive through the mountains no matter which way you come. The property is very private, very secluded, and probably off the paved road about 1/4 mile, (not that there is any traffic on the paved road). The house has everything you need except food, and sits on private property on a pond with a view of the mountains. The kids swam in the lake, fished, and boated. There are many things to do within 30min to an hour drive. We went whitewater kayaking with Dillsboro river company, (highly recomended), hiked to more waterfalls than I can count, though many of them are right off the road, visited gem mines, dined and shopped in the many picturesque small towns in the area, and just spent quiet time at the house some days. We will be back, it was perfect. Thank you Annette for our perfect vacation!

Great

Every thing was better than expected we had a great time . we plan on a return trip in the Future.
