Description
Lakeside Ferns is our family's lakefront vacation home, and we’ve been renting to other families on HomeAway since July 2015. Add your family’s happy memories here in East Hampton, CT!
WHY WE LOVE LAKESIDE FERNS:
** The 50 feet of private frontage on Lake Pocotopaug with a lakeside patio. We provide plenty of water toys, too, including a canoe, a stand-up paddleboard, sit-on-top kayaks (individual and 2-person), paddleboat, life vests and beach towels.
** Because this is also our personal vacation home, we’ve made it as comfortable and clean as possible. We also equipped and stocked it with family-friendly goodies like Wi-Fi, Netflix, Keurig coffee machine (+ pods), outdoor-safe tumblers for cool drinks by the lake, Igloo coolers, charcoal and gas grills, even a jogging stroller!
** Our home is an allergen-reduced environment, which means:
Regular air filter maintenance
Allergen-reducing protectors on all mattresses, box springs and pillows. (These also protect against bed bugs and dust mites.)
All linens are laundered in hypoallergenic, environmentally friendly, non-toxic soap (Charlie’s).
Two Himalayan salt lamps, which may help to reduce allergy and asthma symptoms.
** Every bed is a King-size bed! And all have luxury, pillow top mattresses, 750 thread-count sheets, 100% goose down pillows, and allergen-reducing bedding. We sleep up to 6 adults and 2 kids—all in beds.

LOCATION
From downtown East Hampton, you can hike or bike the scenic Air Line Trail State Park. Plan a date night with dinner at the Gelston House, followed by a show at the historic Goodspeed Opera House on the CT River. Dine, shop and try your luck at Mohegan Sun Casino. End a day of antiquing at The Shops at Marlborough Barn with some comfort food from Sadler's Ordinary. Nearby Belltown Hill Orchards is the place to pick seasonal produce like apples, blueberries, cherries, and peaches.
We’re within 35 miles of Bradley International airport, Glastonbury (11 mi.), Hartford (20 mi.), and Middleton (9 mi.).
Minimum age requirements and maximum occupancy of 6 adults and 2 minor guests apply.
Events (house parties, reunions or weddings), pets and smoking are not permitted.
PLEASE READ: Why is the final rate higher than the rate listed?
We use variable rates so that we don’t exclude smaller groups. If I set just one flat rate, it would likely be too expensive for a couple or a small family—and a total steal for a group of 8! So the rate increases along with the number of guests.
If you divide the total rate by the number of guests, you’ll find the per-night fee per guest is a value for the experience you receive at Lakeside Ferns!

Fantastic lake front stay!
This location can not be beat! Quiet lake front home, beautifully decorated and immaculate inside and out. Plenty to do on the lake with various watercraft provided. Generous shaded porch allows for hours of nature watching whether it is the great blue heron that nests on the island across from the house, fish jumping just beyond a cast off the dock or the cormorants drying out on the rocks next to the island. In the small yard you can follow the flights of the numerous monarch butterflies and watch chipmunks as they roam to and fro. Sunsets can be unspeakably beautiful. Stargazing not to be underestimated for those of us city folk. The new fire pit this year provides one more special place to gather together and enjoy gentle lake breezes, cicadas and the call of an owl between special conversations -you know the ones that only happen around a campfire. The home is so well-stocked with everything needed to cook home meals or grill to one's heart's content. Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, especially for those loving soft, sink in mattresses. Everything about the home is so welcoming and so well thought out. From the basket of lake towels to the umbrellas to shampoos in the bathroom. You can just come and relax! Inside fireplace and outside hammock just add more places to rest and rejuvenate. How could I forget about the tray of s'more makings in the kitchen? Marian is very responsive and kind. When I couldn't find the brush for the grill all I did was text her and she texted right back then called to make sure I had found what I needed. This is our second time staying at this location, a few years apart It is a very special home that just radiates loving care. We've come off season in the spring and now end-of-season early fall and both experiences have been terrific. Do come and see for yourself!
