THE WAY LIFE SHOULD BE...
Duck Duck Goose is a serene retreat that allows its guest to be completely ensconced in the traditional Maine way of life. This recently built carriage house, tucked away in the Maine woods, sits on the edge of Duck Cove, overlooking Blue Hill Bay and all of its lovely islands. The privacy and beauty allow for quiet walks along the rocky coast beach, sitting on the private dock viewing a delightful sunrise or sunset, and viewing stars that can only be seen in the Maine skies. Located on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island allows for seclusion and reflection while still having the small towns within comfortable driving distance. Acadia National Park makes up the island of MDI and is a short drive away. The mountains to hike, roads to bike, and water to paddle or boat, make this location more special than most. This quaint carriage home was just built in August 2012 and offers a comfortable, warm cottage feeling with all the makings of your own home. The first floor living space includes your entry, laundry, full bath, family room and bedroom with two double beds, not to mention three sets of lovely French doors never leaving you without a view of the water.******(Coming for the 2020 season, 3 sided wrap around porch with screened in downstairs kitchen and open deck on the second floor) The second floor invites you to its grand living/dining space with overhead loft and open kitchen, allowing all guests to be near. There are also two bedroom on this floor, one with queen bed and the other with 2 twins. The bathroom provides a soaking tub, a separate shower, a private loo and forest views. Every room has dimmed lighting, comfortable seating, water views and immaculate furnishings. The dining table hosts 8 all the while taking in the ocean breezes and the beautiful outdoors. Not one stone was left unturned. While relaxing in the warm comforts indoors, you will still want to find your way outdoors. Along the carriage home leading to the water is a lovely forest trail which includes a fireside retreat as well as ocean front dining. Enjoy your cocktails listening to the tide wash up on the rocks, or build a fire and grab your marshmallows to roast. Further enjoy a wonderful private dock where you can sunbathe, enjoy your morning coffee or put your boat into the water and go for a paddle. It's hard to decide where you want to be, inside or out, but this Maine carriage home awaits your company. FREE WI-FI.
A three car garage on the first floor of the cottage is an owner's garage and is not accessible for renters use. If you desire to bring canoes or kayaks, they are safe and secure near the waters edge. If you wish to bring bicycles, they are safe within our private community and may be sheltered from in-climate weather under our front porch.

Wonderful Stay
This house was the perfect place to come back to after a day out exploring and hiking around Acadia. It's on the "quiet side" of the park, a bit removed from Bar Harbor, which is what we were looking for. The Tremont home was serene and the beach area was really fun for our kids to throw rocks and explore. We had a lovely evening making a campfire and hanging out down by the water. The beds and linens were comfortable and there was plenty of room for our family of five. This place felt like a home, rather than a rental. Three nights was not enough and we hope to be back. Lots of magical memories were made during our trip to this beautiful part of Maine. Thank you to the owner, Sara, for sharing her lovely property!

Peaceful and Relaxing
Our family of 5 loved Duck, Duck, Goose! Sara was an amazing hostess, even before we arrived! She gave us great recommendations of where to stop on the way to Mount Desert Island, restaurants, hikes, and must-do’s. When we arrived at the house, we were greeted with a package of s’mores fixings (much to our kids’ delight)! Sara even staked out a spot for us to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July. She went above and beyond, as an owner! The house and property are spectacular! Being right on the water and away from the crowds in Bar Harbor were important to us and this house delivered! We were close to Southwest Harbor and the fantastic restaurants there. The house had all that we needed, including games and puzzles. But, we really spent most of our days in Acadia and our evenings by the water. We rented kayaks from Scotty’s for the week and used them every day. The water was so calm and beautiful. One night we took a sunset kayak ride and ended up having dolphin and a seal swimming nearby! We made a fire most evenings and used the grill, as we loved just hanging out at the house after being in the park. We definitely want to go back and will recommend Duck, Duck, Goose to friends and family!

Beautiful home, perfect for a family vacation
Our favorite part about our trip to Acadia National Park was this home.....it was truly the perfect home in the perfect location for our family vacation! This cozy home is beautifully decorated and lovingly cared for. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything you might need. The waterfront location made for many fun evenings around the fire pit, roasting smore's and star gazing at night on the pier. We were also able to rent kayaks and have them delivered straight to the home, which was a fun family activity. The home is secluded, but convenient to many great hikes and local lobster pounds and not a far drive into Acadia or Bar Harbor.

Slice of heaven
Firstly it is absolute peace and quiet. The grounds are beautiful great for kids to explore the rocky beach or just sit and relax on the swing. We barbecued most nights and had fires in the fire pit. The house is impeccable Sara the owner has paid attention to each and every detail and any questions I had were answered promptly. It is the quiet side of the island but still easy access to Acadia and other parts of the island one wishes to visit. We certainly will be returning. Isabelle and Charlie

Absolutely AMAZING Family Vacation Home
The DDG house is vacation perfection at its best! We loved it so much last year that we returned again this year! When our family of 4 arrived after a long drive from Pennsylvania and were greeted with not only S’mores supplies for the outdoor fire pit but also a lovely handwritten letter from Sara, the homeowner. In her letter she welcomed us to the property and provided excellent suggestions and recommendations for activities/restaurants throughout MDI. Her attention to detail and love for sharing DDG was evident not only throughout the property but throughout our entire stay. We could not have asked for a more attentive and caring hostess. The property is absolutely stunning at any time of the day and is well suited for families. We loved spending time in Acadia National Park and returning to DDG for an evening of relaxation and S’mores by the fire. We can not wait to return to DDG next year! What an incredible family experience! Thank You!

Beautiful oceanfront property and lifelong memories
Two friends and I traveled to MDI to get into the outdoors and enjoy some quiet solitude, but with the convenience, comfort, and luxury of a home. Duck Duck... Goose delivered. Sara's home feels (is?) very new and is well furnished. Her kitchen had everything we needed (pots, pans, utensils, dishes, glassware, and appliances), internet worked just fine, and the home was very clean. Bedrooms were spacious and comfy. Dimmer switches on light switches in almost every room. Hot water was quite hot. Now onto the good stuff - the backyard is reason enough to book this home. While we took advantage of Acadia's hiking and views, we spent every night around the fire listening to music. Quite honestly, we almost never stopped talking about how lucky we felt to be taking in the Milky Way, shooting stars, and the harvest moon right on the ocean's edge. We never saw or heard another person - not even out on the back road leading to the driveway. Sara was incredibly responsive via VRBO and text message. We even spent time chatting on the phone a week before my stay to cover off on local things of note (best place to buy live lobster, milk, eggs, beer, firewood, etc. where to rent a boat/kayak). We looked at just about every house available on MDI and are very pleased with the choice we made.

Duck Duck Goose Delivered
Our family visited the Bar Harbor area for the first time this summer (2019). The house was perfect for the 5 of us and we did not want to leave. Bedrooms were clean with nice beds and amazing views. The kitchen and family room area was perfect for preparing meals and playing cards. The water front is the clincher! Firepit, benches, table and chairs and the beautiful pier which is perfect for morning coffee. The views are tremendous and we loved seeing the lobster boats come in and grab their catch in the mornings. Sara was absolutely wonderful when it came to recommendations for eating, activities and answering any questions we had. Easy and beautiful drives to Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor. Can't wait to get back to DDG!
