Description

The spacious 30 foot diameter, 700 square foot yurt on 20 acres is in the open Ponderosa forest 10 minutes from Hamilton and five minutes from Blodgett Canyon trailhead and ten minutes from Canyon Creek trailhead. You will have exclusive use of the yurt and shared bathroom facilities and kitchen facilities in the home. There's a full sized bed for two in the yurt and another full pull out couch for up to 4 people. A creek and walking trails round out the locale.

The space
The Blodgett Canyon yurt is in the foothills of the Bitterroot mountains. Adjacent to Blodgett Canyon and Canyon Creek, there is excellent access to the Forest Sevice lands 5 minutes west. Hamilton, a full service community town is 8 minutes away by car. The Bitterroot is world renowned for its river and mountain beauty, Wilderness, trout fishing, hot springs, and hiking, the Lewis and Clark historical route, the Nez Perce Trail and the Lolo Trail, a Copper Kings Mansion and estate, farmers markets and is on the Powder Highway 93 that runs from Sun Valley, Idaho and the Sawtooth Recreation Area past the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness, Flathead Lake, Glacier National Park and on into Canada and Banff, Yoho, and Jasper National Parks. The Bitterroot Valley is the recent homeland of the Interior Salish people and there are many culturally important sites to them throughout the valley including the medicine tree, sleeping child hot springs, the mountain peaks, and the Bitterroot plains.

Guest access
20 acre property with creek, walking trails and access to the home for kitchen use and bathroom.

Interaction with guests
I like socializing with guests and meeting new people, but happy to give guests their space in the yurt.

Other things to note
There's a wood stove for heat in the yurt and a table with chairs. Currently there's no electricity just kerosene lamp and battery light. I'm working on rewiring power this summer 2019. There's a friendly old female black lab and female kitty on premises. Both love people.
Garden, hammock, picnic table and outside furniture and swing.

My daughter and I had a pretty unsettling experience here

My daughter and I had a pretty unsettling experience here. We ended up staying one night and then left right away the second evening and paid for additional lodging elsewhere. The least of my grievances were on the fact that the yurt was dirty when we arrived. There was garbage left over in the garbage can. The yurt is also ‘curtain-less’, so a lack of privacy since it sits right in front of the house. After the initial disappointment, it became clear that we had bigger problems. As a single mother, I certainly have a heightened sense of anything going on around me, but it became clear that the owner of this property was giving my 8 year old daughter unwanted attention. I would suggest staying away from this property, if you have kiddos.

Great glamping experience

Great glamping experience in a yurt, many available amenities like fire place, fire pit, mini zip line, use of household facilities and more. Welcoming host John, he was mindful of space, and easy to get ahold of to communicate with as needed. Has two friendly furry hosts too (a cat and a dog) which were an absolute treat for the experience there!

It was a beautiful space with wonderful views

This yurt surpassed all of my expectations. It was a beautiful space with wonderful views nestled in the heart of the forest. At night the stars were breathtaking and were easily viewable via the glass dome inside the yurt. The woodburning stove kept the yurt at a comfortable temperature. To top it all off, there are beautiful hiking trails nearby. I can not recommend this place enough!
