Description

The moment we first laid eyes on this circa 1750 sandstone farmhouse, we knew immediately what an incredibly special home it is. We are thrilled to share this beautiful piece of history with you. Your friends and family will cherish the vacation memories made here, and you'll love the private in-ground pool and 18' screened porch. It is privately situated in the peaceful village of Lampeter where you will have easy and quick access to all the attractions that define the Lancaster County experience. This home has been expertly renovated and tastefully appointed with high quality furnishings for maximum comfort and a mix of antiques that compliment its place in history as one of Lancaster’s seven original farmhouses. Not only will you be surrounded by an authentic piece of Lancaster’s past, but you will be enveloped by all the comforts of the modern world. This home boasts flat screen TVs, high speed Internet, top of the line appliances, and central air and a 9 foot dining room table big enough for the whole gang.

You will instantly feel right at home. The exterior of the home is equally as fabulous with a spectacular, private in-ground pool, a spacious screened porch right off the kitchen and family room, plus professional landscaping. You will not soon forget your vacation at The Carpenter House—you will not be disappointed!

FYI...This home is one of two historic gems we offer for vacation rentals, and both homes are large enough for your entire family. The Stone Home at Shallowbrook Farm (property #156751) is on a 50 acre horse farm, has Amish neighbors, and a private in-ground POOL.

Perfect Family Christmas Gathering

This is the second time we rented a home from the Pooles, celebrating our sibling Christmas. Their homes always are beautifully decorated for the holidays. The space, furniture and amenities served us all perfectly. We've never been disappointed.

Awesome and well kept house

The house was clean and beautifully decorated. Very comfortable. Kids had plenty to do. Truly a relaxing place ideally located near Amish farms/ Hershey/ Strasburg/ Sight and Sound Theater. Very good place to have a vacation. We were very impressed.

Spacious home

-Great house for our multi-generational family get-together. Everything was as described on the website and our hosts were very helpful and responsive. The location is good for local attractions, but quiet, and a welcome break from the busy US highway 30. The house was very clean, the kitchen well stocked, the bathrooms spacious and the beds very comfortable. We enjoyed the screened porch and there was plenty of room for everyone in the living rooms. With an infant and a two year old in our party, we ate most of our meals in the house, either cooking them ourselves or bringing food in from local restaurants. Our two year old granddaughter loved the nearby sights - Dutch Wonderland, the Strasburg Rail Road, and the playground at the school next door. The adults loved the Lancaster Central Market. We would highly recommend this house to anyone who wants a comfortable place to stay to explore Lancaster County.

Great place to relax in!

We were in Lancaster for a family event so didn't have a lot of time to spend at the farmhouse, but wish we would have had more! There was plenty of room to spread out, the beds were comfy, the kitchen wonderful to use, and lots of room at the huge dining table. The farmhouse is wonderfully decorated but still feels homey. There are some antiques so young children need to be watched, but we had no problem. It wasn't the right time of year for us to enjoy the wonderful, large screened in porch and pool, but we hope to come back for another family gathering in the warm weather! Thanks Lyndsay and Wanda for the welcoming home baked cookies!

Beautiful home with all amenities

This lovely old home was just perfect for our group of eight older women. We enjoyed visiting the sites around Lancaster and then coming back to the fabulous pool and screen porch for lazy afternoons and evenings.

Great house, great location, great hosts

We spent a week at the Carpenter house in August of 2018, and loved it. The house was spacious, clean, and well stocked with everything from pots and pans to toys for the pool. Wanda and Lyndsay were great with their communication leading up the the rental, and we didn't want or need anything during our stay. There is so much to do in the immediate area, you really need a few weeks just to make a dent in it. Our highlight has to be the wonderful swimming pool, though, which was kept sparkling clean by early morning visits from the maintenance guy. All in all a great vacation!

Fantastic, Loved it!

Thank you Wanda and Lyndsay. Your communication was excellent regarding our rental of the Carpenter House. We loved being greeted with the personal welcome sign and cookies. Thank you for the beautiful home. We had a wonderful stay. The house is perfect for a large group. We had local relatives over for dinner several nights. We had fun cooking and eating together. The farm style dining table easily sat 12 people. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of cooking utensils and silverware. One of our favorite things was to drink coffee in the screened back porch. Plenty of room for everyone. The bedrooms were as described in the details. Each bedroom was beautifully decorated. After a long day exploring Pennsylvania with a large family, it was nice to retreat to our own bedroom, settle down in the comfy chairs, watch TV, and read a book. All of the beds were comfortable with NICE linens. The house was very clean (THANK YOU). Wanda and Lindsay thought of everything to make this rental property one of the best "home away from home" Although the pool was closed for the season, we anticipate a summer vacation in the near future so we can enjoy the private gated pool. Thanks again for everything.

The 2nd Stay As Excellent as the First

We spent a second family-vacation here, and it was really quite a pleasant experience as it had been the firs time around. The house is elegant, and you can't help but feel at peace here. And the location is great as well, with a lot of great attractions a short drive away. We will be looking to stay here for a third vacation in no time.

Fun family Vacation for Children

Farm house has a fully stocked kitchen, large farm house dining table, 2 living rooms with TVs and the most spectacular setting. Was close to Dutch Wonderland and the Strasberg train. My 2 grandchildren, 4 and 2, had a ball. Would go back and recommend to others.

A memorial day weekend that will be remembered.

The Carpenter Farmhouse is isolated enough so you do not bother neighbors, yet within 10 to 15 min of outlets, supermarkets, Costco warehouse, attractions, greenhouses... the house is perfectly maintained, a pleasure for the eye, yet totally functional: the living area is huge, allowing several groups to form very comfortably. The decoration is rustic, reminiscent of another era, and you'll find engraved dates or names on the walls/doors attesting to the history of this home. The overall feel of the house is welcoming and warm, not "museum-like. The large screen porch became quickly our everything room; debates, board games, breakfast, late night drink, early morning coffee. the pool water was sparkling clean and well-cared for. There is sufficient grass area to play ball games. The kitchen was clean as was the rest of the house. Pans and pots were rudimentary, and I definitely would bring a couple of my "chef knifes" on our next stay. Strange, we like to cook on vacation! Cookies were waiting for us on arrival, that was a very nice touch.
