Description

'Kaiolohia' (kai o low he ah) means “peace of mind or calm sea,' and that's surely what you'll discover while staying in this newly remodeled gated home in quite neighborhood of Haena, an easy 5 minute walk to world-famous Tunnels Beach on the north shore of Kauai.

There is a new masterplan at Ke’e Beach, Ha’ena State Park, that limits parking to 100 cars only per day. Of the 100 spaces, 30 of these spaces are allotted to residents only. They have also added “no parking” & “tow-away” signs within one and half miles of the park. Parking violations are strictly enforced with a $200 fine plus tow-away charges. These changes have significantly limited the available parking at Ha’ena Beach and Tunnels Beach.

Our home is located three hundred meters from Tunnels Beach, a half mile from Ha’ena Beach, and one and half miles from Ke’e and the trailhead for the Kalalau. Walk to the world famous beaches of the north shore with our upgraded beach cart with sand balloon tires, take a new beach cruiser, or be the first one to park at one of the best beaches in all of Hawaii!

Hidden away from the world; in a lush, tropical setting, this charming traditional Hawaiian cedar-wood home is private and features a large covered lanai backing undeveloped (jungle) conservation land with views of the beautiful Pohakukane mountain range mountain and Manoa waterfall views.

Kaiolohia Hale offers the perfect setting for your romantic getaway or extreme adventure. A short easy 5 minute walk (300 meters) to Makua Beach (Tunnels), which is a long sandy beach with a protective outer reef for swimming and snorkeling among sea turtles and the endangered Hawaiian Monk seals. Rated one of the top beaches in Hawaii, Tunnels has very limited parking so being within walking distance is a great advantage. This beach has a spectacular view of Mt. Makana (Bali Hai); the famous backdrop for the classic movie South Pacific. Sailing, kayaking, surfing, windsurfing and seasonal whale watching are all close by. Limahuli Garden, Na Pali coast and Kalalau hiking trail (rated one of the top ten hikes in the world) are just a mile away. Four beach-cruiser style bicycles are available to explore all the north shore sights local style.

Relax in our outdoor hot & cold shower or soak in the 6 foot tub on the lanai with jungle, mountain and waterfall views after a day at the beach, hiking or just taking a reading break.

The quaint surf town of Hanalei has two farmers markets per week (Saturday morning & Tuesday afternoon), dozens of dining choices, shopping, surfboard, kayak & other water sports equipment rentals, lessons and tours available. (Our home comes equipped with a two person kayak - for use in rivers and Hanalei Bay only).

Enforcement of illegal rental homes in Ha’ena and Wainha has been increased by the County of Kauai. Twenty-eight years of returning guests endorses Kaiolohia Hale as the premier Kauai north shore rental destination. Protect your vacation investment, only rent a licensed vacation rental property.

Beautiful home and excellent location

The home is on a beautiful property with stunning mountain views. Everything is meticulously maintained. The yard is full of birds, geckos and many other lizards that are so fun to watch. Lovely lanai with fine patio furniture, an outdoor tub. In the yard a bbq and outdoor shower. Inside you will find everything you could possible hope for. Beautiful, comfortable, high end furnishings and decor. The kitchen is large and very well stocked with nice pots/pans/utensils/appliances. Everything you need from tupperware to chip clips to ear plugs. For the beach, they have chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas, towels, bikes and even a kayak. The location is so convenient to walk or ride to Tunnels Beach (rent nice snorkel gear and plan to spend a lot of time there), and a nice bike ride to Ke'e. Once roads are open, having a bike to get around will surely be priceless. Hosts were very nice, helpful and accommodating. We had trouble with a couple of the bikes and two brand new bikes showed up the next day! The only down side (which couldn't begin to make us wish we hadn't stayed there) was a lot of flies and mosquitoes. We were unable to eat outside due to swarming flies, and it was quite hot inside in the afternoons and evenings. There are many many fans to battle the heat. One more tiny down side, there are giant flying cockroaches that like to visit you in bed in the middle of the night. I do not recommend staying here if you are not ready to take great care of this home and everything in it, as you would not want to damage to any of the very nice things they provide. Had such a wonderful time! Many thanks to Adam and Kim!
