Quaint cottage with off street, front door parking on the peninsula in Biloxi. Walking distance to casinos and beaches. Owners are native Biloxians and share the property with you. The property has a 400+ year old Oak tree in the back yard equipped with three swings.
Oleo Estates is close to 3 new museums that are under construction. The Biloxi schooner pier and store is right down the road. We are close to several children's parks and splash pads. The Mary C O'Keffee cultural center is 4 miles away. Quaint shopping and restaurants are all close by. We have numerous churches of all denominations. Something for everyone.
We took our 2-year old granddaughter on a weekend getaway in Biloxi and this was a perfect place for us. It isn't on the beach but is near enough to get there easily. The lot is fenced which gave us a worry-free area for her to play. The property has several swings, a little push car, and a toddler picnic table. Lots of room to roam, lots to play with, and a safe area. Plus the house itself was very comfortable which was a real blessing since one entire day we were trapped inside during heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The onwers were extra helpful, checking on us just enough to be helpful but not too much to intrude. They offered great suggestions for a good beach spot, a great indoor play facility called Monkey Joes, and even loaned us their personal toddler bed rail to use on the twin bed where we put out granddaughter to bed.
This may not be a place for the traditional beachcomber who wants to walk right outside and hit the beach, but for a family with small children it is a perfect choice.
Though I've never written a review on a vacation rental before, I felt compelled to write when I read Lakotagrl's review of this property.
I've stayed in this cottage on two previous occasions and came to the site to book another stay when I found the horrible review. My experience in the cottage could not be more different than the post by Lakotagrl indicates.
The house and furnishings are spotless and meticulously maintained. All of the fixtures, refrigerator, stove, and appliances were pristine, which is difficult to find in a vacation rental.
While any place can have a critter crawl in from outside, the previous post sounds as if the bugs were at home in the cottage. I can state, unequivocally, that this is not the case.
I have recommended this rental to friends and family, which I would not do for a place with a bug problem.
To the previous poster, my recommendation is "check your suitcases;" you may be spreading bugs into places that have always been bug free.
This was the fifth trip staying with Elaine & Olin during our get away from winter & we have enjoyed each one. They make sure we have everything we need to make our stay enjoyable & always have time to talk or give you tips on where to go to get a good meal or one of the many things to see & do around Biloxi. The house is always clean & everything you need is there or they will get it for you. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet location with a fenced in yard & close to the beach & casino's.
