A tranquil water-front cottage know as 'Stillwater'. A truly comfortable home on the river to Squam Lakes, providing easy lake access for power boats, kayaks or canoes! The perfect family retreat, fishing expedition or destination for a romantic get-away. You and your family will enjoy this 'private' wooded site.
Magnificent natural views are just out the front door of this cottage and we can boast as being one of the annual nesting spots of a Loon pair just yards away. Bald Eagles are known to fish at our waterfront too! Superior hiking trails abound in the Squam Mountain Range nearby for all abilities. In winter - Skimobile trails link from the back door!
Relax and read a book, or listen to the buzz of a hummingbird or the splash of a kingfisher, as you watch a quiet parade of boats making their way to and from a day on the lake. Canoe the quiet and pristine estuaries of the river or spawning brook waters which provides some of the best large/small mouth bass fishing in the USA ! (According to Field & Stream Magazine) Rainbow's, Salmon are common to our waters.
Stillwater Cottage provides the casual comfort as you make family memories or entertain good friends on the screened-in porch where there is always a breeze. Later retreat to the centrally air-conditioned and unexpected comforts of a home with most of today's modern amenities. On warm summer nights that air conditioning is so welcome and so refreshing.

Annual fishing trip and stay at Squam Lake
This was our families 11th annual spring fishing trip and first at Stillwater. The concensus review by all was a home run and tops thus far. The cottage was an excellent fit for our group and the location was perfect . We were lacking nothing, the weather and fishing were spot on . Durinng our stay got to meet Pete and his dad and couldn't have been better folks and genuinely concerned that our stay was all we had expected . When we circle around back to Squam we will be excited to return to Stillwater.

Fabulous Relaxing Vacation Home
We had a wonderful stay at this vacation home. It was comfortable and, very, very clean, had everything we needed. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook all of our meals. We enjoyed the grill, loved to open the doors in the morning to hear the birds. We used the screened porch for a mosquito free dinner. We fished off the dock which was lots of fun. We couldn't have chosen a more perfect home for our get away vacation - we truly felt at home!

Family Fishing Trip
Our family had a most enjoyable stay at Stillwater. The home is immaculate and includes everything needed kitchen-wise to prepare meals. The fishing was excellent. Even caught a huge one right off the dock! Quiet location on the channel to the lake and short drive to town. The cottage is nestled among lovely pine trees and the pine scent is heavenly. Like being in the forest but with all the comforts of home. Our grandchildren love it. Very relaxing atmosphere for a perfect getaway. This is our second year renting and we would highly recommend.

Squam Vacation
My wife and I have been coming to the Winnipesaukee/Squam area since 1976 for summer and winter vacations. Our children are now bringing their children.We have never rented a cottage as nice as Stillwater in all that time....it is so well equipped and so clean and comfortable. Peter has combined the comforts of home in a cottage located in a woodsy setting by the waters edge. The screened in porch was a delight every morning for breakfast and evening for dinner. One thing we now look for in a vacation cottage is one that has an area we can lounge in the sun/shade by the water. However, the cottage is quite wooded and the dock too narrow to place chairs on...the only drawback for us. Stillwater is truly a 5 star cottage and gets a strong thumbs up from us.

Loved Squam at Stillwater
We absolutely loved our stay at Stillwater! The place was so clean, quiet, and cozy. We brought our bass boat and fished the lakes in the morning, and in the evenings we enjoyed trolling by our place for fish. The dock was so convenient, and steps from the back porch. We saw bald eagles almost everyday. Our favorite part of the house was the screened in porch for board games and lunch. Thank you both, be back soon!!

Our first visit to Stillwater, but definitely not our last!
Our family of four just returned from a lovely week at Stillwater. Very peaceful and beautiful location! Honestly, I don't think the pictures in the listing even do it justice. It exceeded our expectations in every way. It was the perfect setting for us to recharge our batteries and enjoy some quality family time. As other reviewers have mentioned, the cottage itself was very clean, spacious, and well equipped. So many little touches that made us feel right at home. A highlight for us was the screened in porch....so relaxing to eat, read, or talk while taking in the beautiful scenery and watching the hummingbirds at the feeder. We loved being literally steps from the water where our kids (ages 9 and 12) enjoyed kayaking and getting close to nature...they spotted frogs, loons, ducks and even a bald eagle! Their favorite activity by far was fishing. They caught perch, large mouth bass and sunfish right off the dock. We rented a boat from a nearby marina (very convenient) and had a great time exploring the river and lakes (and more great fishing). Definitely made memories to last a lifetime. Many places to go and things to do in the area (highly recommend the nearby nature center). Plenty of information in the cottage about nearby destinations as well as the history of the area. No matter your interest, you are sure to find plenty to do. Peter

Little Slice of Heaven
I have been coming to this property for a number of years now to enjoy the fishing on Squam Lake. The home is so well kept and cozy, the surroundings so beautiful, and the fishing so good that it's tough to leave. Pete and his wife are wonderful people and we now feel like family. Relaxing getaway in an amazing location!
We could not have been happier with our stay at Stillwater! Peter and Sara were wonderful hosts. They truly went above and beyond to make our stay special. My whole family had a relaxing time unplugging and enjoying nature - but still with the comforts of home when we needed them (AC and WiFi). We went kayaking almost daily and enjoyed sitting on the dock. Stillwater is close enough to attractions, restaurants, and the highway - but when at the house, we felt like we were a million miles away. We found the house in pristine condition - evidence of the love that Peter and Sara put into it. We felt very much at home and comfortable during our stay. We highly recommend staying at Stillwater!
