Mountain Majesty!

Among trips to Whistler, Mt. Baker, White Pass, Mt. Hood and others this lodge was one of the best I've ever stayed in. An incredible view of Schweitzer and just seconds from the door to the slopes, you can transition from skiing incredible lines to living in luxury in a matter of minutes. The lodge is very open and yet cozy at the same time. Perfect for large groups and families with plenty of space. With the kitchen right off of the living room and the overhanging balcony from the upstairs, you can spread throughout the house and still be connected to share the experience. The lodge felt like a home with nearly every amenity you would need. I felt so at home and comfortable. I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone and everyone, no matter the length of your stay. The hot tub on the porch helped too :) There is an overhang outside the door to the hot tub, and while only a few steps away, there's no need to freeze your feet on the way! Heated floors in the bathrooms made me feel like a queen. There are plenty of rooms and beds to choose from and all of them are incredibly comfortable and make for a great nights sleep so you can hit the slopes again the next day! The lodge is most definitely roomier than how it appears in the pictures. I loved that we could cook and prepare food and drinks in the kitchen while simultaneously staying in the conversation and/or transitioning to the living room easily since everything is so open. Bring your favorite ski/snowboard videos to watch on the gigantic TV! There's a great CD player in the dining room so you can listen to music while making dinner. There's also a great room upstairs for kids (bunk buds, TV, kids movies) to keep them occupied and happy. There are many wonderful places to stay on this amazing mountain, but I can assure that this is the best. You will be most delighted and will never want to leave! Have fun!

Very nice home, with good location, and plenty of privacy.

This is a very nice home and perfect for a large family like us. The property easily accommodated seven adults without difficulty. The location is great, you can ski down to the lifts. The large kitchen and dining area again are great for large groups. The large family room fireplace is excellent and creates a very warm environment. I can't forget to mention the covered hot tub on the porch--excellent under any circumstances. The nice mud room area was very convenient for skiing and snow boarding. The shuttle service to and from the house was an added bonus and a great unexpected addition. Overall a really good experience and very nice house.

I love the property and we had a great time !

We loved the place!

Great Time at Schweitzer

The unit was clean and all items we needed where there. The ski in & out worked good. The ski in requires to stay high on the last run and to the edge of the resort, but we got to the front door with no problem.

Host needs better communication skills and clearer expectations

1. No guest information book explaining expectation, workings of or oddities of the house or amenities or host expectations ( biggest problem) 2. Driveway at 20 % grade was inaccessible for 4 wheel drive vehicles. During high snow/ice times even after being plowed and sanded daily in the mornings. 3. Driveway was not plowed or sanded in a timely manner to accommodate the return from skiing in the evenings, OR upon arrival for that matter. Host almost slide into my car barreling down the drive out of control on ou . 4. On subsequent evenings several cars slide down the driveway into snow berm across street with young children in the car. VERY SCARY. Drive should have been blocked off or at least posted “dangerous” and do not attempt without studded snow tires ( something travelers from other parts of the state are not likely to have without notice There could have been a lot more damage to cars that slide down drive. 3 of the cars had 4-wheel drive. a. Among guests trying to access the house during the day and for an evening party were a 78 year old woman, a pregnant woman, children under 10 years old and a 63 yr old man who fell resulting in a doctor’s visit and x ray for broken wrist. Multiple people fell multiple times trying to navigate the ice packed driveway ( the only route to house) Why weren’t a temporary ( snow) stair case, shuttle or alternate access options provided to the street parking below? Or at the very least why wasn’t this potential hazard mention on the website for winter renters to consider before booking multi generational parties. c. It was unrealistic to expect ( and it didn’t happen) the hosts to shuttle all guests to and from as desired throughout the day and consequently the elderly women was house bound all day rather than being able to enjoy the resort and Sandpoint as she had planned. My guess is, it snows at Schweitzer like this fairly often ( being a ski resort), and that the hosts knew that their 20% graded driveway would be hazardous in some conditions. I am just wondering why they didn’t have an alternate plan for these potential conditions for their guests. Guests, who, I might add, came from all over the country and were not familiar with the dangers of unplowed/ cleared slopes under icy driving conditions. I would not stay in this place OR recommend it for winter accommodations for multi-generational guest groups. OR people who value their car

Where is my refundable damage deposit?

The unit was good to stay in for the nights we stayed there. Kitchen had everything we needed and just enough space for our large group of 12. The trail to ski in was hard to find at first and not well marked, but easy after the first time. Snowy driveway is a bit steep for vehicles even with a 4x4. The main reason for the poor rating at this point in time is the refundable deposit. It's been over a month and I've communicated with the owner and they said the check was in the mail. It's been 2 weeks since that conversation and still no refunded deposit.

Such a great place with a perfect layout.

So I read the reviews about the driveway before going, and yes it is a bit hairy. However the owner of the property was very prompt with calling a snowplow and had gravel ready to help get to the house. Most properties there all have this same issue. The house was truly wonderful and the layout of the living area was perfect for a large group. I will definitely be staying here again if we plan another trip next year.

Great family getaway

We enjoyed our stay during the month of July. We had a big group and Lou was very welcoming. We came to the area for a trip to Silverwood which is about an hour away from this place. The place is beautiful inside and has amazing views of the area including a lake. We were very comfortable there and enjoyed our stay. The only negative feedback is just how steep the driveway is even for regular vehicles to come up too. Luckily there is an area below where you can park and just walk up if your vehicle won't go up. Thank you Lou for your hospitality and your home.

Great house. All good things I say.

The house was fantastic! Owners very friendly and kind. House was great and had all amenities we needed. 4 wheel drive was key to get up the driveway. Would love to come back!

Outstanding

Beautiful home, pictures do not do it justice. Owners very accommodating even offered to drive down hill to pick up arriving guests during a snow storm
