Description
Ragged Island Retreat is a newly constructed, modern prow-fronted cottage that takes full advantage of its ruggedly beautiful setting. Protected behind a stand of pines, the cottage has a view of sparkling waters and, at low tide, miles of golden sands.
Ragged Island Retreat is located at the end of private road in the sparsely populated community of East Ragged Island. Overlooking the inner bay, the cottage has a thoughtfully filtered view of the pristine waters and sand bars beyond.
The main floor consists of a well-designed, fully-equipped compact kitchen, open-concept living and dining room; while upstairs you will find a loft seating area. Floor to ceiling windows and a large deck complete with garden furniture expands the living space outside. Breathe the sea air and soak in the natural beauty that surrounds the cottage. It is the perfect spot to enjoy the many moods of the Atlantic Ocean.
The house sleeps 6 people in three bedrooms. The downstairs bedroom has a queen size bed, Upstairs is the master bedroom with a queen size bed and a second guest room with a set of bunk beds. Also downstairs is a 4-piece bathroom and a laundry/utility room. Bed linens and towels are provided. Other amenities include: propane BBQ and WiFi. This house has a STRICT NO PET POLICY.
Driving distances are about 20 minutes to Lockeport, about 35 minutes to Shelburne, 2.5 hours to the Halifax airport and 1.5 hours to the ferry terminal in Yarmouth.
Ragged Island Retreat has a one week SUNDAY to SUNDAY rental period during the peak season.
Tucked away at the end of a long driveway and overlooking a secluded inner harbour, the house is completely private with no neighbours. The cottage comes with two single kayaks, a double kayak that guests are welcome to use. (paddles and adult size life jackets included) To use the kayaks, you are asked to sign a liability waiver and to return the kayaks to the cottage at the end of each day so that they do not float away on the tide.
A low tide a sandy beach is revealed across the channel. In order to get to the beach, you would hop in the kayaks and paddle over. There are some other beaches on the Ragged Island Peninsular that are walking distance to the cottage as well as Louis Head beach (15 minutes' drive) and Crescent Beach (20 minutes' drive).
